Anywhere you go for statistics and read on the figures for Newbie Internet Marketing and other online start ups who “Fail”, you will most certainly come across the stipulated figure of 95% -some even go as far as saying that the figure is 97%.
That is a staggering and very disappointing figure in any event and whats worse, this problem is man made. In my opinion, newbies don’t fail – at least not at the given percentage of 95% – 97% – they are failed. Failed by the very systems that claim to help them get started.
As I see it, the problem is at the start and if that is indeed where the stumbling block is then the failure rate is not likely to come down anytime soon.
So why do so many newbies fail and why do I say the problem and stumbling block is at the start?
When you first come online and start looking into getting started on any of the online ventures, you are greeted with the welcome message of “Buy this report/blueprint/manuscript (call it whatever you will)” and I’ll show you the exact steps that I took to make xxxxxxx amounts of money online!
To some extent some of these “Guides” are of great value but at the same time they still contribute to the failure rate. You see, there is this phenomenal in the Internet Marketing world called “The Marketing Funnel”. And every product that a newbie is introduced to for whatever niche they choose, is designed to set the “Funnel” system in motion.
Side Note: The Marketing Funnel does work wonders for a businesses and this post is in no way intended to discredit that. My intention here is to highlight the problems it cause for newcomers – those who use it can choose to give then a good start and then funnel them or get funnelling from the off and drive them away! I know which I prefer.
The promises of step by step guidance end up on a shortfall or simply “Empty”. This I believe is a deliberate intent on the author’s part on their “Marketing Funnel” strategies and this my friends is the very first stumbling block for all newbies.
This system either leaves the newcomer totally confused and bewildered as to what is going on or at worst, as is in most cases of the 95% (So called failures) they get disheartened and give up before they even get started. Granted, some give up because they can not afford to continue being funneled from stage to stage, lining up the pockets of the “Gurus” and seeing no return on their investment as they expected a quick fix. The fact still remains, the system contributed to their thoughts as well as have a hand in their decision to give up.
It might be argued here that “If you can not invest in your education” then you are going no where fast in this industry. And that holds true in some cases but for the lack of honesty and transparency in the offers being made. heck if I don’t see a return on an investment on my education I would sooner give that course than continue wasting my hard earned money. But if a mentor returns value and I see that I am going somewhere with it all, I am far too happy continuing as i know that such actions returns great rewards in the end.
The Problem?
The actual problem is largely in the vast majority of the products out there. They all tell you the “What to do” part but 95% of them don’t tell you (and this is very important to the newcomers) “How to do it”. Even the “What to do” don’t go in great depth in order to deliver an effective “Action Plan” that in turn give the newcomers the best start they need.
So let me ask – Is it that its 95% of newbies that fails or is it that its 95% of the products (systems) that fail them?
The solution?
This is a complete subject in itself and needs a post of its own to truly do it justice. I hope from the responses I get from here and what I have in mind, I will be able to do it justice in my next post. But the gist of it all goes back to the one fundamental that drives blogs – Content, Honesty and Transparency! High quality content with “Valuable” and usable information. Why claim to show step by step when you have no intention of doing so but build a case for your next product in the “Marketing Funnel” chain? Where is the honesty and transparency in it all?
Till the next time – keep focused, keep at it and keep positive – and success shall be yours
Zulfikar.
