Optimise Your Blog To The Max In 3 Simple Steps
Posted by admin under Blogging tips, Installation Tips, Search Engine Optimisation
You now have your blog installed and are probably keen and ready to start posting your ideas. But before you jump right in why not take a few minutes to optimise your blog to the max to realise the true potential and reap the rewards of your labour. Just 3 simple steps will get your blog in tip top shape ready for the world and most importantly masses of traffic.
Step 1. As you may have already noticed, default wordpress installation comes with one pre installed plugin – Akismet, which checks your comments against the Akismet web service to see if they look like spam or not. In order to use it you will need an API key from Wordpress.com, once you sign up they will email you with the key. The next step will walk you through getting Akismet working for your blog.
Step 2. Jeff Johnson of Underground Training Lab is giving away a Traffic Getting SEO Plugin for Wordpress. Sign up and download the plugin, go to admin>>plugins>>add new – browse to your desk top or where you saved it on your pc and upload it. Once activated follow the instructions to optimise your blog. This plugin will walk you through all the plugins is you need to optimise your blog and help you install and activate them, then point you to the relevant sections to add description, title tags and keywords relevant to your niche.
Step 3. The final step is to head over to Google Webmaster Central, sign in or sign up if you have not already done so then go to your dashboard – here is where you will add your site’s URL and sitemap so that Google can index your blog. Once done go ahead and start posting – as your site is now fully optimised you will find Google indexes your posts much much quicker bringing you the much needed organic traffic.
A fully optimised blog will in return get you indexed quicker, bring you more traffic and more money if you are going to monetise it. One of the beauty of the Getting traffic SEO plugin is that it sorts your ping out too by adding a number of ping sites and controlling how often and when to ping or not to ping.
There you have it 3 simple steps to optimise your blog to the max
good luck and enjoy your new blog.
