No Spam Please, We Are Bloggers!
Having spent so much time building my blog and a good following and then take the extra steps to make sure that my readers and especially those who take a moment to comment benefit, the last thing I want is to see my efforts and hard work taken advantage of.
Comment spamming is an old age problem we bloggers face and as if that was not enough, along come some smart Alic wana be, inconsiderate and outright sneaky individuals adding to the problem.
OK, you must be wondering what on earth am I on about…………..let me take the liberty of showing you what has really annoyed me enough for me to kick up a fuss. Watch the video below and let me know your views!

Thank you very much for sharing this. I have subscribed to your RSS feed. Please keep up the good work.
Bloggers not spamming each others, blogger just leave a nice comment, like what I did in this comment LOL
Most internet people are taking advantage of benefits that they can get from making a comment on some sites. I believe it’s fine as long as they will leave relevant/sensible comments that can give something for both parties.
Great job on the site, it looks wonderful. I am going to bookmark it and will make sure to check often
This is a very interesting point of view. Your blog is refreshing, but I wish one could find more content, though. I am looking forward to reading more from you. Keep up the good work. thanks.
This topic really gets under my skin sometimes, but not for the reasons you are probably thinking.
I think that the general web population has really gone off track on the whole spam issue. Spam isn’t a keyword hyperlink that someone has attached to a message on a forum or blog….period full frikin stop. You can choose to click on the link or not. It’s up to you.
Spam are those maddeningly annoying pop-ups that take over your browser when you visit a website. Spam are those emails we all get every day for pills and other garbage we never asked for.
If somebody comes to your web forum or blog and at least makes an effort to leave a comment that is related to the topic at hand then you shouldn’t have any problem at all with them leaving a link.
The net is what it is today, and we are able to garner all of the benefits that it has to offer today for one reason, and one reason only.. Business saw that it had COMMERCIAL VALUE. If that had not happened then we would still be stuck back in the days of usenet message boards.
If this utterly irrational witch hunt that classifies any and all attempts at marketing on the web continues then sooner or later everything and anything of interest available online will be behind pay-walls.
@John@sql dba – The problem is not about the comment nor a comment containing visible links. The issue here is the way those links were hidden from view. That was a blantant disregard for the blogging ethics and an attempt at spamming to gaining an unfair advantage.
Those links could have pointed very dubious sites or worse still they could have been an html malicious injection – I am no expert ont hose kind of things but conceilment to me is not acceptable.
Ia f simple comment left on a blog, relating to the topic of the blog then regardless of the link to the site shouldnt that comment be allowed to stay? Assuming people put decent anchor text on their link so that people actually can see where the link is going cant they then choose not to click on it? if you are reading a blog, specific to a particular topic, you would read the topic comments. personally i wouldnt click on the link in the commentors name i would be more interestedin what they had to say about that topic.
I fully agree with the title . . I had to abandon 2 blogs because of spammers . Thank god for Askimet .
@London escorts – Ofcours if the comment is relevant and there is no attempt to conceil any embeded links then there is no problem. Provided the link is to a relevant site/blog – there has to be a purpose for the link to be given in the first place.
@Jude – That’s unfortunate. I can understand how it feels to have all that good work go to waste and indeed, thank God to akismet
spamming is the main problem I face on my also
