Lots of traffic right? That will make a lot of a difference to your blog right?

And you’ve bought that e-book that promised you tones of traffic in 30 days?

Did you also watch that video that claimed to show you exactly how to get all the traffic you desire?

How about the “underground secretive traffic generation tactics club”? – and did you get the results you hoped for?

Ok hands up how many of you answered yes, yes, yes to all the questions only to end up saying NO! at the last one? I read that book, I watched that  video, heck I even took a snoop around the underground club and all to no joy! Apart from “Article marketing” “Social media networking” and not forgetting the oh so deadly traffic pulling “traffic exchange” no one out there really gives you the know how to be able to generate the amount of traffic they claim to be able to get for you – correct me if am wrong!

Stop buying those e-books, you are only lining up the guru’s pockets – sorry gurus no offence intended. Skip the videos, they are nothing but a sales pitch for yet another e-book or some sort of a traffic exchange. And last but not least “The underground what club?” is all the above pulled out of a black hat.

You see the problem is this: Everyone wants traffic to their site/blog and they want it right “Now”! Everyone wants to make money and they want to make it “Now”! And the gurus pounce on that aspect to make a killing online. Yes you read that correctly “the gurus make money out of our impatient and hunger for I want it and I want it now” syndrome. yes you can get a tone of traffic to your site/blog, but not the way they are telling you.

First of all, there is a whole lot more to social media networking and the bookmarking scenario than first meet the eye. “Social” means grouping up – being amongst people, having friends and associates. You can bookmark all you want all day long and night but if you don’t have a “Social Network” you wont get any benefits in return. You can digg your site all you want, stumble it all you can and yet see only a trickle of traffic to your blog. The trick here is to build your social network of friends and associates so when you do bookmark or stumble your site as well as other sites they will see it and visit your blog, they will in turn bookmark and their friends will see it and visit. The gurus don’t tell you that now do they? Just go ahead and do what we tell you and you will get all the traffic you want! Ya sure

Article marketing is an ingenious concept but that too requires a lot of work and dedication. You must be committed to it to reap the rewards – it is not a quick fix to traffic now syndrome. You will have to wait for along time to see results from article marketing and that is if you keep up with it for months on end. That leaves the black hat tactics – My summation on that is “Forget it” don’t even think about it! Yes with black hat you will get tones of traffic in the shortest of time spans compare to the other methods. BUT! yes a huge BUT – it will get you banned by the search engines, it is not worth it in the long run. Once again my apologies to the black hat gurus out there.

So how and where do you get the desired traffic? Lets conclude this matter this way: You + your content + your credibility + value of your content + search engines = traffic! Believe it or not you are the number one source of traffic for your blog. Its how you come across to your readers that will bring them back for more or not if you come across the wrong way. Your content is the second denominating factor in this equation to drive traffic to your site (remember: “Content is king”). People come for your content and the more you have and the higher the quality is the merrier, it keeps them busy reading at a time and like all of us we have other things to do, so what do we do? We bookmark and come back later to continue. Guess what, on return they see more content so they bookmark some more to return again and again.

Now for you to achieve that the other denominators have to come into play – you must build up a rapport with your readers and become a credible source of information, good quality information they can use. Content that is relevant to your niche or field of expertise – and that us what Google looks at. For Google to show your site/blog in the results of a specific keyword / keyword-phrase your content must be relevant to that keyword.

Here is something I noticed with one of my blogs, it was brand new just a few days old. The domain name, the tag-line, the post title and the post content were all relevant to each other – on being indexed by Google my blog appeared on the first page at #6 for my chosen keywords. Keeping that in mind I made a second and 3rd post on the same day retaining the above structure – once again for the chosen keywords my blog was page one, this time at #7 for the 2nd post and #5 for the 3rd post – I was getting a steady stream of organic traffic to my blog, then I noticed something unique and I believe this is one of search engines working (so called algorithm) – the more traffic I got the higher my blog appeared in the search engines. The above 3 posts rank #1 and #2 on Google and I am proud of it and no thanks to the e-books or any of the other tactics. I have maintained the above positions through hard work and being consistent at it, I now post once or twice a week and each time I stumble the post I command at least 100+ visitors from stumble-upon only. Then there is digg and ofcours good old Google sending me traffic. I must admit though I don’t get much from digg but it all adds up and that’s what matters. Ok enough about me lets wrap this up.

Conclusion
Online earnings are not guaranteed they depend on your efforts and what niche you chose to operate in, they also depends on the current market trend. Traffic generation is much the same – it all depends on your effort to:

Build a community on the social media networks
Generate good quality highly relevant content on your blog
Build a rapport and credibility with your readers and by giving them usable information

By plugging away in the background tweaking, testing and continuing to optimise your blog to a high standard that gives your readers a pleasant experience that they can’t help but come back for more.

Needless to say that Google will love your efforts too and reward you by displaying your blog higher up in all the relevant searches conducted of their databases.
When you have all these things in place you will start to see your traffic increase over time – but please, dump the “I want it and I want it now” because that’s not how it works! Anyone who promise you so is only after your money.
