But you've also hit on the main keyword in your comment "high perceived value" and the statement "A lot of that high value stuff they give away turns out to suffer from the same old thing complex" - this is where the little guy like you and me suffer. Although as you rightly mention that their products tend to suffer with the same old same old complex - the normal person out there doesnt know that, and since the guru's bonus seem more valuable we little guys stand very little chance in competing with them even though our bonuses are indeed of high quality and value.
