Good House Keeping To Shape Up Your Blog!

Its back to the basics once again for today’s house keeping exercise to ship shape and get your blog in order. Blogging is not just about posting your content and social book marking. Not only is your blog supposed to be visually pleasing, content engaging and sticky – it also has a lot of behind the scene work to make it easy to find.

Yes its that topic once again – SEO. Search engine optimisation is a never ending task and unless you keep on top of it you might find yourself dropping off the ranks of Search engine first page placing and into the sea of million other buried blogs. There are two SEO tasks that you have to keep on top of at all times and fittingly one is on page SEO and the other is off page SEO.

Today’s on page house keeping SEO exercise is all about keywords and or keyword phrase density of your post. Your post needs to be aesthetic pleasing to the eye as well as search engin robot attention grabbing. With this in mind you write your post rich with keywords but not so blatantly that it becomes an eyesore, and send alarm bell ringing to the search engine robots sending them screaming “spam artificial content filled site” No Index No Index – lol that was my impression of a dalek as a search engine robot . Ahem moving on

As a rule of thumb your keywords and/or keyword phrases should be strategically placed and in the right quantity based on the post word count (hence the term keyword density). Its acceptable to have 3 to 5% of keywords/phrase per post. For best results write your content first and then work out your keywords/phrases instead of trying to write it to fit around them.

As for off page there is one simple tip to keep in mind while building your back links and that is to use your blog keywords as your anchor text for the link. For example when leave a comment on a relevant blog to yours instead of your name type in your title keyword or any other keyword from any of your post/page. So when it is display it would look something like “Comment by – YourKeyword“. Or if you are leaving a link back to your site, use something like: Click the link to visit my site: Keyword or Go to Keyword to download your free copy – Search engines especially Google love this kinds of links.
