I’ve decided to do various experiments to see the true affect of certain actions on a live blog. Having read a number of guides, reports and pro-blogger’s advice I felt it was time to put it all into practice and see the outcome first hand.
Point I
One of the main advice given in many a guides/reports is to blog consistently on a regular basis – as this is what drives traffic to a website/blog. So for this month (January) I decided to experiment on this by posting very little in way of blog posts. Read more... (579 words, estimated 2:19 mins reading time)

With Google Adsense or Yahoo Publisher, having people click onto more pages helps your revenue immensely, but how do you get them to read more than one page when they visit your website? Here are a few tips.
1. Create pages within the blog that contain reference material you refer to often in your posts. These static pages will also get crawled and indexed by the search engines and as you write posts about your topics you can refer people to these static pages as references to what you are posting about. The reason being, blogs are more dynamic, constantly updated which in turn draws in the search engines to crawl and index the new content. This then drives masses of traffic to your blog and if set up and done correctly this traffic can be channeled to your main site, giving your business a boost as most of the new visitors will turn in to customers. Changes Affect Testimonial Advertisements, Bloggers, Celebrity Endorsements.
This post should have preceded my previous post – but here goes anyways!
On Monday 5th Oct 2009 The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) announced its approval on the guidance to advertisers on keeping their endorsements and testimonials in line with the FTC Act.
In the guidelines the FTC states that: (*This is an extract from the FTC website.*)

This is one of those questions that has a true “two faces to the coin” so to speak. And I ask the question with a good reason with full awareness that both sides will and do have valid arguments. I’ll just present my opinion and would love to hear yours in return.
Have I used blogs to pitch sales? Yes I must admit I have and I must also admit that I now believe I was wrong. In my opinion, a blog is and should be used to deliver highly valuable free content to the readers. Reason being the vast majority of people who frequently visit blogs are looking for nothing more than a good article full of valuable information. Read more... On the 17th April I did a post on building backlink by commenting on blogs which I have revisited as well as take a look at what others are saying about the topic.
What I have noticed around the blogosphere is that every one is talking about the importance of using anchor keywords/text for the link. Unfortunately with a standard wordpress installation, comments are anchored on the commenter’s name – Which doesn’t really give much in the way of benefit other than just being a backlink. - This one is a toughie as you will find that most of the good domain names have been taken. But don’t let that stop you, chose a similar word or opt for a different tld like .net or .info if .com is taken. Avoid geographical tlds like .co.uk, .co.in, .asia, .ca or the likes unless your niche is specifically targeting those marketplaces. And if a one word domain is not available then use 2 to 3 words joined together, i.e mykillerblog.com – avoid my-killer-blog.com if you can.
