The guys over at Wordpress have been hard at work preparing the all cool all new version of Wordpress – WordPress V3.0 is due for release any time soon!

So what can you expect with this new version?

I have tested and installed Wordpress 3.0 (Not yet available for public use) on one of my new sites and it was a breeze and with this new version comes the first major change – The installation welcome screen and the ability to pick a name for the admin and set your own password with a strength meter.  Read more... On Monday 5th Oct 2009 The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) announced its approval on the guidance to advertisers on keeping their endorsements and testimonials in line with the FTC Act.

In the guidelines the FTC states that: (*This is an extract from the FTC website.*)

The notice incorporates several changes to the FTC’s Guides Concerning the Use of Endorsements and Testimonials in Advertising, which address endorsements by consumers, experts, organizations, and celebrities, as well as the disclosure of important connections between advertisers and endorsers. Security Release – Wordpress 2.8.3

This is a quick announcement!

Some security issues which were raised with the 2.8.1 had been missed out with the release of WP v2.8.2.

These have now been taken care off and the new highly recommended security release of v2.8.3 is now available. You are strongly advised to upgrade to the latest version as soon as you can.

As always – in order to upgrade correctly don’t forget to follow the simple guidelines set out by wordpress.org.

• Back up your core files and database.
• Deactivate all plugins.
• Upgrade your installation.
• Make sure all is working fine before reactivating the plugins.

Wordpress 2.8 Set For Release

The long awaited Wordpress 2.8 is to be released on 10th June 2009 according to announcements made by wordpress.org. The new version come with a few enhancements as well as suggestions on upgrades of MySQL and PHP.

The current version (2.7.1) of Wordpress operates under the PHP4 and MySQL 4.0. and 2.8 should be ok with this. But the talk is for future releases of wordpress i.e 2.9 which will require PHP5 and MySQL 4.1.2.  Read more... (239 words, 1 image, estimated 57 secs reading time)
