3 Simple Steps To Start A Money Making Blog
More and more people (Individuals as well as companies) are turning to blogs in order to generate traffic, leads and most importantly Income. Although setting up or getting a blog set up for you is easy, making money with it is altogether another story. Many a bloggers have come and gone and all had two things in common – 1) They wanted to make money and 2) They started off on the wrong foot.
So here is my 2cents on how to start your blog the right way and realise your dreams. One thing I must point out at this stage and I can not stress this enough, Do not expect over night results or get rich quick magic pill. It takes hard work, dedication and perseverance to make it online and make an income out of your efforts.
The 3 simples steps are not rocket science and do not require much effort. But they do require some work on your part so be prepare to invest your time and some money. I have seen many of the above mentioned group of bloggers who came and went, starting their “Make money” or “Income generation” blog on the free service such as blogger.com or blogspot.com not wanting to spend money setting up their business the right way. I am not going to discount these great services as they do have their uses, but sadly to say, making money online isn’t one of them.
OK, here is what you need to do when starting your blog as a money making venture online.
-
Step 1: Very important; Niche market research. Knowing your market and topic of your blog is the number 1 key to your success. Center your blog on something you enjoy doing and for which you have a great passion for. (Here’s a great post and podcast by Michael Dunlop and David Risley at incomediary.com to help you with this step.)
Step 2: A must have; Get yourself a great domain name and a hosting account. Yes, in order to make money online you need your own domain name, something catchy and memorable. A domain name is your identity on which you will build your credibility as a blogger, marketer and an online entrepreneur. Your own hosting account is also a must have. Look at it this way – your hosting account is the building and the domain name is the address from which you operate your business.
Step 3: This one goes without saying; USP – Unique Selling Point. This is your content, your service or product with which you are going to make money with. Unique content + Great service/Product and a splash of targated traffic = Dosh, Dollars, Greens, Pounds – call it what you will, this is your bread and butter so to speak.
Work is not done yet, oh no sir/madam! Having achieved the above 3 simple steps you will now need promote/market your blog to the masses and bring in your prospects (Traffic). You will then need to convert them in to leads/buyers. And it doesn’t end there – Now is the time to rinse and repeat once more, and once again and again – you get the picture am sure
You must remember that this is only the beginning, get it right and you are well on your way to attain your goals and succeed online as an entrepreneur. But get it wrong and you can kiss your dreams goodbye! With that said, here’s wishing you all the best and great success to your online business ventures

Number 3 is indeed critical, the differentiating uniqueness. Not easy to obtain though.
Agreed, not an easy task but achievable. This is where the term “Work” kicks in
The key is not to give up just keep at it and you’ll soon find a way to be unique enough to make it count.
Get a website/host. Write some amazing content on your niche. Explore Adsense and commision based ads as well. Trial and Error, research and patience. Money can be made.
Yes indeed, I agree that making money online takes trial and error, research, patience and perseverance. But unfortunaly many a newbies get swamped with information overload and end up giving up before they even start.
Awesome, thanks a lot for the help better give it a try.

How many pages do I need to make a blog successful?
Are 500 sufficient or rather 1000? – and how long will it take to make the blog a successful? Is there a rule of thumb based on your experience?
Those are open questions which do not have a simple or definitive answer. It all depends on what you see as success or what success means. I personally do not think that the number of pages or posts determine the success, its the quality and consistence of the content therein that will decide if your reader stays for a while and hopefully come back again.
By consistence I mean staying on topic and writing in the same manner through out, not necessarily in terms of quantity although being regular in your posts also helps.
Hello! Excellent site, keep up the good work!
Thank you Linda, need all the encouragements I can get

I agree that consistence (for most of the people) is more difficult to maintain than just writing 500 pages…
Indeed. Its easy to become a blogger but becoming a problogger is yet another story, but one should keep on learning and try to better themselves. Soon or later the consisntence issue can be mastered.
thanks for the article.

Blogging is not easy money at all. It requires patience, relevant skills, as well as dedicated work.
I think, just as in the real life, there are no short cuts to making money in blogging as well. If you see it closely, a lot of principles that apply to other businesses apply to blogging as well.
@Nevin – Thank you and welcome aboard the bloggersphere. Hope network with you and exchange ideas, I’m up for suggestions on any topic you want to see covered.
@Sky – Yes indeed it is a business and it should be treated as a business. As being in business goes, there’s no easy shortcuts to riches – it takes hard work, dedication and perseverance.
It takes hard dedicated work to success in online business
@http://easywaytomakemoney.awardspace.co.uk – Indeed, an online business venture of any sort or shape is no different to any other. Success in any field is a derivetive of dedication and hard work plus the right mindset.

I can’t stress the importance of tip number one enough. If you don’t enjoy or find the topic of your blog interesting then you’ve got a problem straight away. It’s no fun forcing yourself to write an interesting post on something you don’t care about – this will only come across to your readers.
It takes a lot of patience to achieve success in blogging business. You need patience and hard work.
I agree about niche market. Some marketers are not aware of this and it is the most important. Reaching the right market is important to become successful.
@Internet Marketing Coach – Indeed, I can not stress this one hard enough myself. Thanks for chipping in
@Janneth@Work at Home – Thanks
. Research the market, target the right niche and work hard it are the basic of IM success.
Execellent article.
If I can add one thing about selecting a niche, it’s pick one with desperate buyers. People with a problem they are trying to fix.
@Wealthy Affiliate review – Excellent pointer, thanks

I think a lot of people could relate on this blog. In order to reach your goal, you have to persevere and work for it. benjaminhulme@gmail.com
@Online Cash Advance – Indeed, I belive you have to marry the two concepts of “Do something you are passionate about” and “Aim for the hungry market” – when this works then its combo made in heaven
@Make money online – Couldn’t agree more on that one. Only hard (Smart) work and perseverance will bring the greatest of rewards.
